The Little Voice in Your Head Sucks

Getting in better shape is all mental. I say it all the time but it's 100% true. That little voice in your head is what is holding you back. Here are a few thoughts to help you beat that voice down and win the battle.

If you actually listen to that little voice it will be a surprise at how negative it can be. Don't let that happen. Toughen up mentally and tell that voice to shut the hell up. It will tell you that you can workout later. It will tell you that yesterday was tough and a rest day will be okay. It will tell you that those Reeses peanut butter cups won't derail you that much(they are delicious and one here and there won't cause any harm at all). That voice will tell lie straight to you and try and beat you down. DON'T LET IT! Take back control and tell it to SHUT UP!

Pay attention to when the voice is popping up. It will be at or near a decision making time. Laying in bed. Getting off work and driving home. That little voice will tell you to stop and get a pizza even though you have perfectly healthy options at home. It prays on your weakest points. When your blood sugar is low. When you are tired. When you are busy! If we only workout when we want to you WON'T EVER GET ANYWHERE!

That voice needs to be put in its place and the sooner you do it the sooner you will win the battle. IF you truly want to feel better, have more energy and live a better life tell that voice to SHUT THE HELL UP! I use a few stronger words when talking to that little voice. When I was in college and making poor decisions regarding my study habits and nutritional choices I noticed this little voice. I took a few weeks and decided that every single time that voice popped up and said "you can do that later," I would get up immediately and do whatever it was that voice told me not to do. I won the battle. It doesn't take too many times of talking to that voice until you will notice the change.

After telling that voice to SHUT THE HELL UP you are taking back control over your life. You will notice that after only a handful of times that the voice will TURN POSITIVE and actually TELL YOU to get up and fold laundry(sorry Jenny I suck at folding laundry). You can take back control at any point. If you want to actually live a better life and get in better shape it does NOT require you to sacrifice everything. You don't have to run a marathon or enter a body building show(extremes). You HAVE to listen to that little voice and TAKE CONTROL of your life right now. Start with the smallest of tasks that little voice tells you to not do. I started with stupid shit like putting the cap back on the toothpaste. That tiny task spilled over into bigger and bigger tasks. I didn't want to study everyday. I didn't want to eat better. I took control over my mental toughness and it BECAME EASY EXTREMELY QUICK!

IT only feels like you don't have enough time. It only FEELS like you don't have enough energy to get out of bed and workout. It only feels like it won't get any better. Pay attention to your mental thought processes and tell that little voice to go and EFFF OFF! You WILL blow your own mind and start chipping away at a better and healthier you!
